Last Minute Christmas Eve Robbery at Family Dollar Store in Providence

Shortly after 9 PM Friday night, police responded to the Family Dollar store on Branch Avenue for a report of a robbery.

According to police, the clerk said the suspect threatened to kill her if she tried to stop him.
Another male clerk reportedly attempted to intervene, at which time that clerk said the robbery suspect threatened to shoot him as well.
Both clerks said they did not actually see a firearm on the suspect, who then fled the store with approximately $700 from the cash register.
Police said the suspect left behind the holiday cards he brought to the counter before robbing the store.
Providence police are currently investigating.
