About Incident
Providence police were called to Standish Avenue in the Mt. Pleasant area of the city early Saturday morning for a report of an assault.
Police said they met with the victim — a male in his 30s — who said he had been sleeping in his vehicle when he heard a grinding noise underneath him.
The victim told police he saw two people under his car, and when he went to confront them, he was hit with a pipe by one suspect, and what he thinks was a saw by another suspect.
According to police, the victim said the suspects then fled; he was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment for his injuries.
Detectives are currently investigating.
