Man Kills Himself in Domestic Assault Incident Involving Woman & Child in West Warwick

West Warwick Police announced on Tuesday that a man killed himself during a domestic assault incident on Monday.

According to police, at approximately 7:20 on Monday, officers responded to a report of a domestic assault at a residence on Morris Street. 

Police say a female victim was assaulted at the residence, and was able to escape and flee to a neighboring residence along with a child.

Law Enforcement Response

Police say the male suspect barricaded himself inside the residence and was thought to be armed; SWAT teams responded to the scene.

When SWAT officers made entry, they say the male suspect was deceased due to a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound. 

Police say the victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital and that the child was not injured.
