About Incident

Shortly after 1 AM, a Providence Police officer on detail said he saw hospital security involved in a verbal argument with an individual in the waiting room, who was reportedly causing a disturbance.

Police say the suspect, later identified as Damien Kilgore, age 35, threatened to assault security and was asked to leave.

He was escorted out the door by police, and then Kilgore reportedly drew a concealed knife and extended its four-inch blade.

The officer said he called for backup and drew his weapon due to the immediate threat and ordered Kilgore to drop the knife.

Kilgore then fled the scene with police in pursuit, at which time he dropped his knife.

He was apprehended inside the Speedway gas station on North Main Street.

Police took possession of the knife, and Kilgore was transported to Central Station for charging.
