NEW: Cretella Lecture at Providence College Postponed

Providence College has announced that the upcoming lecture by Dr. Michelle Cretella has been postponed.

Cretella, a certified pediatrician at the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality whose association with beliefs that homosexuality can be reformed through therapy had upset some of the school’s faculty and student body, was scheduled to speak on Tuesday February 18. 

Statement by Providence College

Steven Maurano, Associate Vice President of Public Affairs, Community & Government Relations for Providence College, issued the following statement this afternoon.

"The administration did not plan the Cretella lecture; it was organized by the faculty, specifically, the Philosophy Department.

Also, as an update, after discussions between faculty and students, the lecture has been postponed."

When asked to clarify, Public Affairs Specialist Chrissy Centazzo said, "The Department is looking to reschedule, not sure of the timetable though."
