NEW: Lombardi Endorses De Ramel for Secretary of State

Guillaume Di Ramel (Left) meets with Charlie Lombardi (Right) at Tina's Italian Kitchen in North Providence.
North Providence Mayor Charlie Lombardi has endorsed Aquidneck Island businessman Guillaume De Ramel in his race to become Rhode Island’s next Secretary of State.

Mayor Lombardi, who has served as mayor of North Providence since 2007, made the announcement at Tina's Italian Kitchen in North Providence.

“As a mayor and a small business owner, I know that Guillaume De Ramel, a business owner himself, is the only candidate for Secretary of State that will make it easier to do business in North Providence and all of Rhode Island,” said Lombardi. “Guillaume is a well-intentioned, honest guy and is running for office for the right reasons. I am proud to announce my full support, and my vote, for his campaign for Secretary of State.”

“Mayor Lombardi says what he believes and I could not be happier to have him on my side for this campaign,” said De Ramel. “He knows how to make tough choices and has always been a tireless advocate for his community. I will be the first to admit how important North Providence is for any statewide election and I am quite thankful to have Mayor Lombardi’s support for Secretary of State.”

Mayor Lombardi’s endorsement is the latest to line up with Guillaume’s campaign. Last month, former Rhode Island Democratic Party Chairman Ed Pacheco, himself a former candidate for Secretary of State, as well as eleven members of the Providence City Council all have endorsed Guillaume’s candidacy.
