Lapatin Wednesday afternoon confirmed the deceased was Jamie Ramos, 33, from Pawtucket.

The homicide marks the fourth just over one week in Providence, and the ninth of the year so far in 2020.

"For the life of me, I can’t understand all these shootings," said Lapatin. "We’ve made it known if you shoot somebody and kill somebody — you’re getting double life."

"We have to put a victim in the ground, and put a 21, 22-year-old at the ACI. It needs to stop," he said.
