NEW: RIPTA CEO Studley Releases Statement on Police Report

The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) has released a comment on the Providence police report regarding last week's fatal accident that killed 9 year old Ani Emdijan. 

The report says that the bus was traveling below the 25 mph speed limit and that there was no error on the part of the bus driver. 

RIPTA CEO Raymond E. Studley responded to the police report with the below statement:

“Nothing changes the fact that this was a heartbreaking accident that has forever changed the lives of all involved. The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority was notified by Providence Police that their investigation has found that this tragedy occurred through no fault of one of our operators. Still, it is a sad reminder that everyone needs to always be thinking “safety first” when on the road – whether it be motor vehicle operators, bicyclists or pedestrians.”
