More than ten weeks after the McKee Administration announced a “Critical Failure” of the Washington Bridge westbound, traffic continues to be a nightmare for travelers.

At 12:15 PM, GoLocal captured the following screenshots from the Rhode Island Department of Transportation traffic showing the westbound traffic backed up to the Massachusetts line.

Prior to the RIDOT bridge failure, traffic would be flowing at midday in both directions and might even be lighter this week — school vacation week.

However, despite repeated announcements of new traffic patterns by the McKee Administration, traffic, congestion, and greenhouse gas emissions continue.

On Wednesday, McKee and RIDOT Director Alviti announced their third effort to “improve travel time on I-195 and to further alleviate congestion leading up to the Washington Bridge.”

The Washington Bridge failure is now under federal investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice.

GoLocal has an ongoing investigative series related to the bridge failure, titled, Organized Influence.
