UPDATE: Branch Ave I-95 North On-Ramp Reopened After Water Main Break

Providence Water announced Thursday evening at 5:30 PM that the Branch Ave 1-95 North on ramp has reopened.

It was closed for nearly 30 hours for repairs after a water main break and repairs.

Timeline of Events

As GoLocal previously reported:

Providence Water announced shortly after 1 PM on Wednesday that crews are currently responding to a water main break near North Burial Ground in Providence. 

In order to complete necessary repairs, Providence Water is coordinating with the Rhode Island Department of Transportation to temporarily close the I-95 North on-ramp from Branch Avenue.

Motorists can use the Charles Street or Smithfield Avenue on-ramps as alternate routes to access I-95 North.

Prov Water said it will provide an update when repairs are complete and the I-95 North onramp from Branch Avenue is reopened.

 

Still Working Into Thursday

A spokesperson for Prov Water said that as of Wednesday night, crews were still working on the repair. 

Per RIDOT, the break will require a hot asphalt patch, which should happen [Thursday] morning, said ProvWater.
