About Incident

Shortly after 1 AM Friday morning, Providence police on patrol on Cranston Street said they observed an SUV idling outside of Flow blocking traffic, with a crowd of people around the vehicle.

According to police, they went to conduct a traffic stop, and said they saw the driver — later identified Santos De Jesus, Jr. age 24 — attempt to reach toward the vehicle floorboard.

Police said they removed all occupants from the vehicle and located a “ghost gun” under the driver's seat; De Jesus was placed in a cruiser and taken to Central Station.

Following the incident, police arrested another vehicle occupant — Mailek Carroll, age 26 — for disorderly conduct.

De Jesus was charged with possession of a firearm without a license.
