Police Investigating Baseball Bat Assault Outside Providence Club

Providence police are investigating a report of a baseball bat assault early Sunday morning in the city. 

About Incident

Shortly before 1 AM Sunday morning, police responded to a report of an assault at 1070 North Main Street.

Police said that upon arrival, that they encountered a male victim with facial injuries and possibly a broken nose.

A witness told police a fight broke outside inside the "1070 Lounge," and that when the victim left the club, he was jumped -- and attacked -- by assailants with a baseball bat. 

The victim -- who reportedly lost consciousness -- was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. 

Detectives are currently investigating.
