Police Taser Breaking and Entering Suspect in Home on East Side

Providence Police said that officers needed to taser a breaking-and-entering suspect on Providence’s East Side on Sunday night. 

About Incident 

Police responded to a call of a break-in in progress on Barnes Street — off of Thayer Street — shortly before 11 PM on Sunday night.

According to police, when they arrived at the residence, they were let in by the homeowner, at which time they found the suspect in the hallway. 

Police said the suspect — later identified as Keveon Gomera, age 29 — refused to show his hands and moved aggressively toward the officers, and then one of the homeowners. 

A patrolwoman deployed her Taser and Gomera was handcuffed and arrested. 

Gomera was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for an EKG and then transported to Central Station.

He was turned over to detectives for charging.
