Providence Police Seize 11 Firearms in Four Separate Incidents

June 4 and 5 Incidents
GET THE LATEST BREAKING NEWS HERE -- SIGN UP FOR GOLOCAL FREE DAILY EBLASTThe first incident came on June 4 when Detective Thomas Zincone encountered Juan Lajara, 23, and Thomas Lumpkins, 26, at 85 Congress Avenue. Zincone engaged in a brief struggle with Lajara, after which he was able to secure a warrant for the address that led to the discovery of a .380 caliber handgun outside the apartment, and a .30 caliber revolver, 3 grams of heroin, and 5 grams of marijuana inside it.
Lajara and Lumpkins were both charged with possession of a firearm without a license and Lumpkins was also charged with narcotics violations.
On June 5 an investigation by the Providence Police Narcotics Bureau led to the seizure of seven firearms from a Pawtucket home, as well as the interception of an attempted narcotics shipment.
June 7 Incidents
On June 7 Providence Police Task Force Officers Sean Lafferty and Matthew McGloin were patrolling the Lexington Street when they encountered Trenton Keith, 20, who pulled a firearm on the officers.
Keith was ultimately apprehended in the back yard of 198 Adelaide Avenue, where a Beretta 92F with obliterated serial numbers was also discovered in a trash can in the yard. Keith was charged with two counts of felony assault, possession of a firearm while committing a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm with obliterated serial numbers.
The final incident occurred on June 7 when Task Force Officer Eric Chabot observed a light-skinned Hispanic male walking from the side of a green trash can. The male fled the scene, but Chabot ultimately seized a Interarms (Firestar) 9mm gun in the trash can.
