The first incident came on June 4 when Detective Thomas Zincone encountered Juan Lajara, 23, and Thomas Lumpkins, 26, at 85 Congress Avenue. Zincone engaged in a brief struggle with Lajara, after which he was able to secure a warrant for the address that led to the discovery of a .380 caliber handgun outside the apartment, and a .30 caliber revolver, 3 grams of heroin, and 5 grams of marijuana inside it.

Lajara and Lumpkins were both charged with possession of a firearm without a license and Lumpkins was also charged with narcotics violations.

On June 5 an investigation by the Providence Police Narcotics Bureau led to the seizure of seven firearms from a Pawtucket home, as well as the interception of an attempted narcotics shipment.

Angel Franco, 65, and his son, Angel Franco Jr., 42, were charged with possession of 1-5 kilograms of cocaine and conspiracy. Franco Sr. was also charged with possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence, and four counts of possession of a stolen firearm.
