As part of her state budget proposal, Governor Gina Raimondo has called for the closure of the high security prison at the Rhode Island ACI, all in an effort to save a minimal amount of money. And she didn’t even consult the correctional officers who will be put in harm’s way by this closure.

Leading the charge is Budget Director Jonathan Wormer – the same Jonathan Wormer who served as budget director in North Carolina, a state that severely underfunded and mismanaged their prison system, leading to the fatal assaults in 2017 of five correctional officers at the hands of their most violent inmates.1
