RIDOT to Close Portions of Route 6 in Prov for Woonsquatucket River Bridge Work

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) announced that portions of Route 6 in Providence will be closed on due to work on the Woonsquatucket River Bridge.

“These temporary closures are needed to safely remove bridge beams at the $10.8 million Woonasquatucket River Bridge project. RIDOT chose these closure times because traffic volumes are very low,” writes RIDOT.

RIDOT adds that they do not expect significant congestion during the closures

The Closures

RIDOT will close Route 6 West at the Hartford Avenue exit on Monday, December 2 from midnight to 5 a.m.

Drivers can detour using the Hartford Avenue off-ramp to Killingly Street and then back onto Route 6.

On Tuesday, December 3 from midnight to 5 a.m. RIDOT will close Route 6 East at the Killingly Street exit in Providence

During this closure, all traffic will be detoured to Hartford Avenue, and then back onto Route 6.
