RIDOT Announces Traffic Pattern Change for Route 6 This Weekend

RIDOT announces traffic pattern change for route 6 this weekend
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) is reminding drivers about a new traffic shift on the 6/10 Interchange that will go into effect on Friday night.

The new pattern puts Route 6 eastbound and westbound traffic on the westbound side of Route 6.

“RIDOT cautions drivers that as this shift occurs, lanes will narrow from 12 feet to 11 feet which will require reduced speeds.  Although no lanes will be closed, the shoulders will be restricted in this area. Minor delays are possible,” said the RIDOT in their press release.

Work will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 7 a.m. weather permitting.

Traffic Pattern Change

RIDOT will shift the traffic on Route 6 East to the left just after the Hartford Avenue exit.  This move allows for bridge replacement over Hartford Avenue and Plainfield Street.

This change was first announced in early November as part of the overall traffic pattern changes for the first phase of the 6/10 Interchange reconstruction.

This change will remain in place for 12 months.
