Shooting Reported at East Side Park in Providence — Over 40 Shell Casings Found

Providence Police are investigating a report of a shooting on the East Side of Providence on July 4 that resulted in dozens of shell casings found by law enforcement. 

The report of the shooting came early Monday morning at Billy Taylor Park on Camp Street — which has been the site of multiple shootings in recent years.  (SEE ARTICLES BELOW).

About Incident 

Shortly after midnight on Monday, police responded to a report of shots fired at Billy Taylor Park. 

Police said that upon searching the area, they found over 40 shell casings. 

Live rounds were found on the basketball court and in the area next to it, say police. 

According to police, additional shell casings were found on the bridge from the park over Cypress Street.

Detectives are currently investigating.
