Shooting on East Side

Shortly before 8 PM Sunday night, police responded to a report of a shooting at Billy Taylor Park on Camp Street on Providence’s East Side.

According to police, the victim — a male — had non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Miriam Hospital.

Billy Taylor Park has been the site of multiple shootings in recent years, including three in four months in 2021

Stabbing by Park

At approximately 4:30 PM on Sunday, police responded to Merino Park for a report of a stabbing while soccer games were taking place.

According to police, they met with the victim — a male in his mid-30s — who they observed as having a deep cut to his arm.

The victim told police he had gotten into a fight with a man over a cell phone.

Rescue transported the victim to Rhode Island Hospital.

Detectives are currently investigating both incidents.
