The Rhode Island State Police arrested Ann-Marie Goddard for embezzlement and fraudulent conversion, unlawful appropriation, and obtaining money/property by false pretenses or impersonation, the agency announced.

Goddard, age 54, was arrested on Tuesday.  Ann-Marie and Chris Goddard run Exodus Construction in Narragansett.

Chris Goddard has not been charged.

According to the company’s website:

Chris & Ann-Marie Goddard have over 50 years’ combined experience in the design, building and remodeling industry. Chris is the true problem-solver of the team. In his role as general contractor his wealth of understanding of the construction process and logistics involved in working in coastal areas of RI are invaluable to running projects smoothly. He enjoys working with people, and the gratification that comes with seeing what he and his teams build with their hands at the end of each day. In fact, he often comes home with job site stories and pictures to share with friends and family each day. When he’s not working, he can usually be found spending time with his daughter, Faith and his wife, Ann-Marie & their extended family.

The arrest was the result of a months-long investigation by members of Wickford Barracks into fraudulent and deceptive activities related to a construction project that Exodus Construction had undertaken.

She was featured on WPRI's Who To Know Television segment. In the interview, she explains how her kitchen & bath showroom allows her to "customize all details of dream home"s designed by Exodus Design Group, the sister company of Exodus Construction.

According to the State Police, Goddard was arraigned at Washington County District Court on Wednesday, where she was granted a bail amount of $5,000 with surety.

The investigation revealed that Ann Marie Goddard had allegedly misappropriated $98,075 in funds from Exodus Construction accounts and engaged in fraudulent activities, transferring money into her personal account(s) and using the money for non-business-related expenditures.

The Rhode Island State Police Wickford Barracks encourages anyone with information regarding Ann Marie Goddard or Exodus Construction to contact them at 401-444-1064.
