Three Men Stabbed in Lounge on Federal Hill

Three men were stabbed in a fight in a lounge on Federal Hill overnight. 

According to police, the altercation took place inside VL Lounge -- the location of a fight last May that spilled out onto Atwells Avenue and turned into a brawl involving nearly 50 people

About Latest Incident 

Police that three men went to Rhode Island Hospital early Saturday morning with stab wounds. 

Victims told police that they had been stabbed in a fight in VL Lounge, which is located at 242 Atwells Avenue.

Two of the men had stab wounds to their legs; the other male had a stab wound to his neck. 

Police say they have contacted the owner of VL Lounge and reviewing footage from inside the club.

 

May 2023 Incident

Shortly after 6 PM on Sunday May 14, police on detail on Atwells Avenue said they heard screaming and breaking glass from VL Restaurant and Lounge, located at 242 Atwells Avenue. 

According to police, they went inside the establishment where they found two females fighting on the floor and lounge staff trying to break them up.

A staff member told police a woman might have broken her leg, one of the females in the fight said the other woman pulled her hair out.

Police said when they tried to disperse the scene, that multiple parties became involved and the fighting continued onto Atwells Avenue, at which time 40-50 people were involved in the disturbance. 

Multiple people were arrested by police. 

A 41-year-old woman is being charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrests; two other women, aged 30 and 31, are being charged with disorderly conduct and simple assault. 
Police say that department-issued pepper spray was used during the incident and the responding officers using OC spray filed reports. 

VL Lounge was summoned to an emergency Board of Licenses hearing on Monday for 72-hour closure.
