Victim in Last Weekend’s Shooting Outside Allens Ave Strip Club Dies - 5th Homicide in City in 2022

The victim in last weekend’s shooting outside of the Wonderland Gentleman’s Club has died, GoLocal has learned. 

Shortly after midnight on Saturday April 2, 30-year-old Angelo Gomez was shot outside the strip club on Allens Avenue.

Providence Police Major David Lapatin confirmed Saturday morning that Gomez passed away from his injuries on Friday.

It is the 5th homicide in the city in 2022.

As GoLocal reported on Saturday April 2:

"A man was shot and seriously injured overnight outside of the Wonderland Gentleman’s Club on Allens Avenue in Providence.

According to police, three individuals were arrested following the incident believed to be related to the shooting. In addition, three guns were seized. 

Police say that shortly after midnight, a fight broke out inside Wonderland between two groups of people. 

Club employees escorted the individuals out, at which time the shooting occurred.

According to police, an acquaintance of the victim stole keys from the valet to take the victim to the hospital, where he is in critical condition.

Police say three individuals — believed to be involved in the incident — were arrested shortly afterward in the vicinity.
In addition, police say that three guns were seized.

There was an emergency meeting of the Board of Licenses Saturday morning, where police asked for and were granted a temporary shutdown of Wonderland. 

The club has been the site of numerous instances in the past. 

In February 2021, police responded to a report of a gun brandished at Wonderland. 

In 2017, a video captured a fight outside the club, which GoLocal obtained."
