RI Energy was called to the scene to assist with fixing the utility pole and power lines.

“The [driver] told me he was looking at his phone and then he flipped over the curb,” said Sionni. “Luckily he didn’t kill anyone. There’s a lot of people always walking around in that area.”

As GoLocal reported on May 30, "Alleged Drunk Driver Kills Pedestrian on North Main Street in Providence."

That was just the latest in a constant run of pedestrian deaths in Providence.

The victim was transported by rescue to the hospital for treatment.
