A pedestrian was struck and killed in Providence on Tuesday night.

According to police, the incident happened on North Main Street, near Doyle Avenue, shortly before 10 PM.

The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Witnesses provided a description of the vehicle, which they said fled the scene.

Detectives are currently investigating.
