East Side Pedestrian Struck and Killed by SUV in Providence

A pedestrian was struck and killed on the East Side of Providence on Tuesday while walking near East Side Marketplace. 

According to police sources, 51-year old Timothy McCann, who lived nearby on Pitman Street, was found lying in the street and bleeding from his head on Tuesday night shortly after 8 p.m.

Police say witnesses attempted to help McGann, who they said had a shopping cart of groceries and was walking across the street when he was struck by an SUV heading northbound.

While an investigation is currently underway, police say there are no criminal charges at this time.
