RI State Police Investigate Fatal Crash Killing Pedestrian -- 4th Deadly Accident in Under One Week

Rhode Island State Police are investigating a crash involving a tractor-trailer that killed a pedestrian in Richmond Tuesday morning. 

It marks the fourth deadly crash on state roads in under a week.

At approximately 2:30 Tuesday morning, troopers from the Hope Valley Barracks, as well as members of the Hope Valley Fire and Rescue, responded to an incident on Route 95 North involving a tractor-trailer and a pedestrian.

The subsequent investigation revealed that tractor-trailer, operated by Norberto Gonzalez, age 40, of New Haven, Connecticut, was traveling in the low speed lane of Route 95 North in the Town of Richmond. 

At a point approximately one-half mile north of Exit 3, the vehicle struck a pedestrian who had entered the first lane of travel. That subject has been identified as Clark W. Reynolds, age 64, of Exeter, Rhode Island. 

Reynolds was pronounced deceased on scene by members of the Hope Valley Rescue.

Troopers from the State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit, Commercial Enforcement Unit and Forensic Services Unit also responded.
