RI State Police Arrest Central Falls Man for Murder

The Rhode Island State Police on Tuesday announced the arrest of a Central Falls man for the murder of a Providence man. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Rhode Island State Police in conjunction with the Providence Police Department, Central Falls Police Department, Texas Rangers and the Rhode Island Office of the Attorney General.

On November 26, a body was discovered at the former rest area on Route 295 south in the Town of Lincoln. The body was identified as that of Jose Segura, age 50 of Providence. Segura was reported as missing on November 10 to the Providence Police Department. The Medical Examiners Office ruled his death as a homicide.

According to the RI State Police, the investigation led to the arrest of Jose “Chepe” Aparicio-Mendoza, age 31 of 13 Parker Street, Central Falls.

Apraricio-Mendoza allegedly killed Segura on November 3. Segura and Aparicio-Mendoza were co-workers as flooring installers.

The State Police said that Aparicio-Mendoza will be charged with one count of Murder and he is scheduled to be arraigned at the 3rd District Court Tuesday afternoon.

According to the State Police relelase, every person guilty of murder in the first degree shall be imprisoned for life. Every person guilty of murder in the second degree shall be imprisoned for not less than ten (10) years and may be imprisoned for life.
