Police Apprehend Juvenile With Stolen Gun at India Point Park Pedestrian Bridge

Providence police said they apprehended a juvenile with a gun on the India Point Park pedestrian bridge on Sunday night.

Shortly before 8:30 PM Sunday night, police on special detail at India Point were notified of a disturbance on the pedestrian bridge. 

According to police, witnesses said they saw several people fighting.

Police said they encountered a male suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt running toward them, grabbing at an object in his waistband. 

Upon apprehending the male, police said they found him to be in possession of a handgun with a loaded magazine. 

The suspect — a 17-year-old juvenile from Central Falls — was turned over to Youth Services and sent to the Training School, say police. 

He is facing charges of possession of a stolen handgun and possessing a weapon without a license.
