Pedestrian Hit on North Main St. in Providence -- Multiple People Killed on Road in Past Year
The incident occurred next to North Burial Ground at the Rochambeau intersection.
Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez told GoLocal that it happened shortly before 10 AM.

It marks the latest pedestrian being struck on the busy four-lane thoroughfare in the city.
Multiple North Main Street Incidents
There have been multiple pedestrian fatalities on North Main Street over the past year.
On New Year’s Eve, Edwin English, age 57, was struck and killed at the same intersection; police later arrested Ariel Acosta on hit-and-run charges.
In October, an elderly female pedestrian was hit and killed on North Main Street at Pleasant Street, while walking with her husband.
In February 2023, a pedestrian was struck and killed at North Main and Doyle Avenue.
The Providence Streets Coalition had already scheduled a Valentine’s Day “Vigil and Rally for Pedestrian Safety” for this coming Wednesday to remember those lost and called for short, medium, and long term changes, which can be found here.
