Woman Smashed Car Windows, Bit Police Officer on Atwells Avenue

A woman was restrained and taken to Rhode Island Hospital on Monday after reportedly smashing car windows on Atwells Avenue — and biting a police officer. 

About Incident 

Shortly before 9 AM on Monday, police responded to a report of a woman running in and out of traffic on Atwells Avenue by Valley Street — and breaking car windows.

Upon arrival, police said they found the woman to be acting erratically and that she appeared to be under the influence of narcotics. 

Police said when they went to subdue the suspect, that she bit a police officer. 

The woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. 

Witnesses at the scene provided statements to police regarding vehicle damage. 

The officer was treated for his injuries and released back to duty.
