UPDATED: Hopkins Trounces Farina in Cranston GOP Mayoral Primary

Council President Michael Farina and Councilor Ken Hopkins
Cranston City Councilman Ken Hopkins is on course to soundly defeat opponent Michael Farina in the Republican Mayoral primary.

With 96% of the vote counted -- Hopkins had 76.1% of the vote to 23.9%. 

Hopkins and Farina have battled over the Cranston budget, the proposed Costco project, and nearly everything in between.

Hopkins had the support of Cranston Mayor Allan Fung and much of the old GOP guard including former Mayor Michael Traficante and former Governor Ed DiPrete loyalists.

In contrast, Farina won the support of Speaker Nick Mattiello and his loyalists.

As on Wednesday morning, Farina has yet to concede.
