1.  What do you think is the biggest political issue this campaign season in Rhode Island?

I hear the same refrain every night when I go door-to-door in North Providence.  Voters are genuinely concerned about the direction of our state.  Rhode Island has nearly recovered from the Great Recession but you can still feel the tension among middle class families worried about what is around the corner.  They support the recent income tax cuts for seniors and small businesses because they know these reforms will grow our economy.  The last thing we need is to raise taxes, like my opponent suggests. Doing this will cause people and businesses to run for our borders and that’s what they are fearful of.

2.  What do we need to do to improve Rhode Island's economy?

We need to support small business.  Small businesses like those on Mineral Spring in North Providence are the backbone of Rhode Island’s economy.  That’s why I’ve worked to reduce the corporate tax rate, support workforce development, increase job training, increase the earned income tax credit and overhaul Rhode Island’s burdensome regulatory framework.  If we want to continue to move Rhode Island’s economy forward we need to continue these investments, not gut them and raise taxes like my pop-up progressive opponent is proposing to do if elected.

3.  What is the greatest challenge facing Rhode Island as a state?

The greatest challenge facing Rhode Island is a turn back down the road of an anti-business environment.  We have cut taxes and allowed businesses to grow and working class people to have more money in their pockets.  These new progressives want to raise taxes to astonishing levels, which will only discourage entrepreneurship and employment in this state.  This is a fight for common sense.

4.  Why are you running for office?

I am running for office because I have strived to make my adult life about public service.  After graduating from Rhode Island College, I enlisted in the Peace Corps where I served two years in South Africa.  It sure was difficult being away from home, but I learned some of life’s most important lessons including compromise, inclusivity, and tolerance.  I also made amazing friends like Jason Carter and even had the opportunity to meet his grandfather President Carter.

Furthermore, it’s been my greatest honor to have been elected by and to represent my friends, family, and neighbors and I thank them for bestowing upon me this opportunity.  I know I am the right person for the job and I fight every day for the people I proudly represent.  Thank you North Providence.

5.  Who is your inspiration?

My parents.  My Mom and Dad were two of the most selfless people I have ever met. I owe everything I am to them.
