Money Race: Cicilline Raises Twice as Much as Loughlin

Democrat David Cicilline has a 2 to 1 fundraising advantage over Republican John Loughlin in their race for the First Congressional District, according to their third quarter finance reports.

Cicilline hauled in $233,010.04 between August 26 and September 30, according to his report, filed Oct. 15. He spent $415,359.28 and had $263,050.83 available in his war chest for the final two weeks of the campaign.

“Last week’s FEC fundraising reports demonstrate that the momentum is squarely on David Cicilline's side as he continues to deliver his message of creating jobs and protecting Social Security in the final weeks of this campaign,” said spokesman Rich Luchette. “But we're not taking anything for granted—over the next two weeks David is going to keep working hard every single day to reach out and listen to voters from Woonsocket to Newport about the issues important to them.”

Loughlin pulled in $108,001.37 during the same period. He spent $33,274.65 and had $142,026.67 cash on hand.

“We’re pleased with our fundraising, which has picked up as voters focus on John Loughlin’s message of fiscal responsibility,” said campaign manager Cara Cromwell. “People want a check against Nancy Pelosi's liberal spending agenda.”
