No Labels Common Sense Plan for 2024 - Gary Sasse

Founded in 2010, No Labels has been at the forefront in promoting pragmatic-bipartisan solutions to the challenges that face our nation. Among its notable accomplishments are the establishment of the Congressional Problem-Solvers Caucus, the reform of the U.S. House of Representatives rules, and developing the blueprint for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill
For the last year, No Labels has been playing a more proactive role to ensure that voters have the choice of a presidential ticket that is not extreme, a ticket that is committed to working across the aisle to make things better for all Americans. The centerpiece of the effort provides an insurance policy in the event both parties nominate candidates that most citizens believe cannot bring the nation together to meet its challenges. To achieve this No Labels is undertaking an initiative aimed at gaining ballot access in all fifty states for a national unity presidential ticket.

However, securing ballot access in all states for a unity ticket is a complex task that cannot be accomplished at the last minute. It is, therefore, necessary to be prepared for potential contingencies. In building a national unity ticket in all fifty states voters must have a transparent understanding of what policies and programs the campaign is being based upon. No Labels spent two years listening to and surveying tens of thousands of our fellow citizens to understand their priorities, needs, and goals. The result was No Labels’ Common-Sense guide that includes 30 big ideas to address America’s fiscal, immigration, energy, education, economic and national security problems. It also presents directional suggestions to deal with contentious issues such as abortion and gun safety. Common Sense provides a blueprint where the majority want this nation to go, and a copy can be found at nolabels.org.
The chart below illustrates the differences between what the American common-sense majority sees as the path forward and the rhetoric of the leading contenders for their party’s presidential nomination. As No Labels Chief Strategist Ryan Clancy wrote, “We hope this chart clarifies both why America so desperately needs more voices and choices in our political process and how an independent unity ticket could develop an agenda most Americans could rally around.”
Let us never forget that democracy works best when voters have real choices that address their concerns.
