The protest comes just days after a U.S. airstrike killed Iranian military commander, General Qasem Soleimani.
Local anti-war and activist groups are joined the National Call to Action by Code Pink, Veterans For Peace, World Beyond War, and others. "We call for Congress to use the War Powers Act, or by any legal means possible, to end this War on Iran before it escalates any further. Rhode Island peace groups, activists, and community members are protesting against our government's reckless escalation toward further war in the Middle East, Trump ordering the assassination of one of Iran's top leaders on Iraqi soil. This escalation, unimpeded, is likely to cause more needless deaths and suffering," said the organizers.

Not only did Reed and Langevin not use the just passed NDAA to stop the War on Yemen, they neglected to keep it from halting trump starting a War on Iran. They both failed us miserably allowing the NDAA to come out of Committee without any war ending amendments," they added.
GoLocalProv’s Richard McCaffrey was there to cover the event.
