Rep. Lancia Honored with Loyalty Day Award by VFW

Rep. Robert B. Lancia, third from left, receives the VFW Loyalty Day Award from John D. Cesana, state commander of the VFW.
The Veterans of Foreign Wars have honored Rep. Robert B. Lancia (R-Dist, 16, Cranston) with the Loyalty Day Award due to his service to VFW members and role as a spokesman for veterans.

Representative Lancia, a member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee, was at an award ceremony with the VFW to give an address; on the following day he presented the VFW with a legislative grant for $2,500.

“I am incredibly honored to be recognized by the VFW with this award. The issues that beset the lives of veterans are of great importance because our debt to them is one that can never be calculated. At the governmental level, Veterans’ Affairs is a standing committee in the Rhode Island House of Representatives. Nationally, it is a cabinet-level position. Honoring our commitment to veterans is one of the most sacred public trusts," said Representative Lancia, a former Navy chaplain.

Today, there are almost 1.9 million members who contribute nearly 8.6 million hours of volunteerism in the community.
