WATCH LIVE: Impeachment Proceedings Begin at 9 A.M. in House

The U.S. House of Representatives is taking up the articles of impeachment on Wednesday.
The United States House of Representatives on Wednesday will debate — and ultimately vote — on whether to charge President Donald Trump with inciting violence against the government of the United States, following the domestic terrorism events of January 6.

It marks the second time the body has moved to impeach Trump in just over a year.

On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence in a letter sent to Speaker Nancy Pelosi said he would not move to strip the president of his powers using the 25th Amendment.

U.S. Congressmen David N. Cicilline (RI-01) will be an impeachment manager, chosen by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

“The President is a clear and present danger to our republic,” said Cicilline. “We will hold him accountable.”

On Tuesday, on the Senate side, Fox News reported that Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is “furious” with the President — and supports the move to initiate proceedings.

“It is unclear how McConnell would vote in an impeachment trial, should House Democrats vote to impeach Trump. It is not clear at this point whether McConnell would vote to convict,” reported Fox.

“One source told Fox News that McConnell has not made up his mind about what to do about impeachment, and does not see this as a partisan exercise like the previous impeachment effort against Trump,” they added.

Terrorism is defined in the Code of Federal Regulations as “the unlawful use of force and violence against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population, or any segment thereof, in furtherance of political or social objectives” (28 C.F.R. Section 0.85).
