Bruins' Marchand Suspended 2 Games by NHL for Spearing Tampa's Dotchin

Brad Marchand suspended two games by NHL
Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand will be suspended for the final two games of the regular season after spearing Tampa Bay’s Jake Dotchin in the groin in the first period of their game against the Lightning on Tuesday. The NHL made the announcement on Thursday afternoon. 

Marchand was given a game misconduct immediately following the incident.

This is Marchand's fifth suspension since 201.

Marchand This Season 

Marchand is having a career season for the Bruins and has arguably been their MVP. 

In 80 games played, Marchand has netted 39 goals and 46 assists for a total of 85 points. To further break down his goals, nine of them have come on the power play while eight of them have been game winners. 

The suspension will cost Marchand a chance to post the first 40 goal season of his career.

Bruins Still Have Something to Play for 

While the Bruins have clinched a playoff spot, they still have a lot to play for with two games left in the season. 

Boston is currently in the third spot in the division, but with wins in their final two games, they could grab the second spot and have home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. 

The Bruins face the Ottawa Senators on Thursday night before closing the season on Saturday against Washington.
