Inside the Numbers: Dion Lewis & the Patriots Offense

Dion Lewis
New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis needs to have a second surgery done on his torn ACL. The surgery is being called a "clean up" surgery, and it will sideline him for about 2 months. Lewis will begin the season on the PUP.

Lewis tore his ACL last season in a November game against the Washington Redskins and participated in an OTA practice this past spring. However, once training camp began, he was placed on the PUP list and never saw the practice field.

Lewis played 279 snaps last season for the Patriots and they averaged 7.2 yards per play with him on the field. With Lewis off the field, the Patriots only averaged 5.2 yards per play.
