King's 16 Points Leads Brown Over Johnson & Wales, 75-65

Brown took control early in the game jumping out to a 19-11 lead and then a 30-19 lead. Brown led 39-31 at the half and put the game away from the free throw line down the stretch after Johnson & Wales cut their deficit to as low as five points.

Steven Spieth contributed 15 points while J.R. Hobbie went four of seven from beyond the arc for 13 points. Rafael Maia had a double-double in the game with 12 points and 16 rebounds.
Tom Garrick led Johnson & Wales and all scorers with 29 points in the loss, Johnson & Wales first loss of the season.

Five Takeaways From The Browns 75-65 Win over Johnson & Wales
Turnovers
The Bears won the game 75-65 however, one of the negatives from the win was the turnovers. Brown turned the ball over 20 times in the game and Johnson & Wales got 22 points off of them.
Leland King led the Bears with four turnovers in the game but Spieth, Blackmon and Maia were all closely behind with three turnovers each.
Of those 20 turnovers, 12 of them were steals by Johnson & Wales which, in part, resulted in 12 fast break points for the Panthers.
The Panthers had 14 turnovers in the game and Brown got 14 points off of them.
Tavon Blackmon
Tavon Blackmon was back in the starting line up for the Bears, after coming off the bench in the last game and he had his best game since returning from a brief hiatus.
Blackmon had seven points, three assists and four rebounds in the game, looking much more comfortable then he has in the last couple of games.
A good sign for the Bears as they move into a tough stretch of their schedule prior to conference play.
Leland King
For the second straight game, Leland King came off the bench for the Bears, and for the second straight game, he was productive in that spot.
King came off the bench and posted a team high 16 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and even added a steal to his stat line.
Right now, Leland King is playing some great basketball. Including this game, he has 20, 17 and 16 points in his last three games. Just what the Brown Bears need from him.
Rafael Maia
Rafael Maia was out with a stomach bug a few games ago, and today against Johnson & Wales he had arguably his best game of the season.
Maia posted a double-double with 12 points and 16 rebounds, eight offensive and eight defensive. Maia also added four assists and three steals in the Brown victory.
The only thing Maia didn't do well, was shoot free throws, going 0 for 7 from the Charity stripe. Other than that, he was terrific in this game.
Another 2nd half closeout
For the second straight game, the Brown Bears took a lead into the second half, and for the second straight game they sealed the victory.
Johnson & Wales made a run in the second half, cutting the Brown lead down to as low as five but the Bears didn't panic. They executed their game plan and their free throw shooting down the stretch to close out the game.
The second half confidence is growing with this Bears team.
