The New England Patriots have placed kicker Stephen Gostkowski on injured reserve, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

According to Rapaport, the Patriots were working out free agent kickers during Wednesday’s practice at Gillette Stadium.

Patriots head coach Bill Belichick would not confirm that report during his Wednesday press conference.

“Look, I'm not confirming anything, denying anything. We haven't worked any kickers out, so that's the answer to that question,” said Belichick.

Gostkowski This Season

Through four games this season, Gostkowski was seven of eight on field goals, however, he has missed four extra points.

“I think as a team, there's a lot of things that we can do better, so we're working every area to improve. I think we can improve in all three phases of the game and within those phases there's a lot of things we can work on there as well. We need work on everything. It's barely October. We've got a long way to go,” said Belichick.

Gostkowski’s missed extra point against Buffalo on Sunday nearly cost New England.

The Patriots led 16-10 with Buffalo driving in the final minutes. A Bills touchdown and extra point would have won the game.

New England sealed the win on an interception by Jamie Collins.

Patriots Growing IR List

New England’s injured reserve list is continuing to grow just four weeks into the season.

Gostkowski joins fullback James Develin, rookie receiver N’Keal Harry and offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn on injured reserve.

Only two of the four players will be able to return to the team this season.
