The Patriots selected Dawson in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of the University of Florida.

However, Dawson was placed on injured reserve in September of 2018 with a hamstring injury and missed the entire season.

During this summer’s preseason games and training camp, Dawson saw time at cornerback and on special teams before being traded on Friday.
