The University of Rhode Island (URI) has apologized for “long lines” at a home basketball game — ten days ago.

On Tuesday, URI released the following statement regarding a game on January 4, urging fans to arrive early in the future.

"The Ryan Center staff wants to sincerely apologize for the long lines experienced on Saturday, January 4 at the Men’s Basketball game against George Mason. We understand the frustration caused by the extended wait time and have taken immediate steps to improve your experience," URI wrote.

The university continued

"To better accommodate larger crowds this season, we’ve worked with our entire team to increase staffing at entry points and enhance our ability to adjust quickly and safely when managing a high volume of fans in a short period,
 wrote URI.

"Additionally we encourage fans to arrive early to reduce wait times…please note that for all men’s games, arena doors open 90 mintues before tip-off," they added.

The Rams are home next on January 18 against Davidson at 2 PM.
