UPDATED: Patriots Trade 1st Round to Chargers, Now Have Massive Stock Pile of Picks

The New England Patriots have traded their first-round pick at #23 to the Los Angeles Chargers.

The Patriots receive the Chargers #2 and #3 picks. Those picks are at #37 and #71 overall.

The Pats are expected to select a quarterback in the second or third rounds.

The team now controls  #37, #71, #87, #98, #100, #125, #139 in the first four rounds.

The team now has 5 picks on Day 2, including four third-rounders, and 13 in total.

“It was a situation where we thought the trade made sense,” Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio told reporters after the first round was complete. “I’m sure we’ll be active [on Friday]. At some point, we’ll end up picking a player.”
