PC Gets Blasted by Marquette

PC's Josh Oduro
The Providence College men’s basketball team got blown out at #5 ranked Marquette on Wednesday night.

One stat that set the tone for the Friars' problems in the first half was bench scoring.

PC’s bench scored one point in the first half, and the Friars trailed 50-26.

The Friars lost 91-69. It is the most points PC has given up in a game this season.

Josh Oduro had 12 points, Ticket Gaines 15, and Devin Carter led the Friars with 18 points.

Prior to the game, CBS Sports' analyst Jerry Palm listed the Friars as one of the last four teams out of the tournament, and the Friars' performance did nothing to help their cause.

ESPN hasd PC as one of the last four "in" -- prior to the game.

The Friars had beaten Marquette in Providence in December 72-57.

PC falls to 18-10 and 9-8 in the Big East. The Friars had won three conference games in a row.

Marquette is now 22-6 and 12-4 in the conference.

The loss makes the Friars’ home game against Villanova on Saturday a functional must-win game to keep PC's tournament hopes alive.
