PC Wins Crazy Overtime Game Against Butler

Providence College men’s basketball defeated the Butler Bulldogs in overtime 85-75.

The Friars jumped out to a 15-0 lead over the Bulldogs and then battled back and forth throughout the game.

There were six lead changes in the second half.

The Friars gave up the lead in the last minute of the game, and Ticket Gaines saved the day.

Gaines hit his 5th three-pointer of the game with 2.1 seconds to send the game to overtime — 69-69.

Overtime was all Friars — Devin Carter and Josh Oduro dominated in the extra period.

Carter ended the game with 24 points and 9 rebounds.

Oduro, who battled foul trouble much of the game, ended with 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 assists.

Gaines finished the game with 17 points.

Bryce Hopkins was just 5-14 with 12 points.

This was the Friars' seventh consecutive win over Butler.

PC shot 45% for the game, but it was the three-point shot that made the difference — the Friars were 12 of 33.

The Friars edged the Bulldogs 47-43 in rebounds.

PC is now 11-2, (2-0 in conference). Butler falls to 10-3 (1-1).
