Rosenblatt's 52-Yard Field Goal Helps Brown Edge Dartmouth 24-21

Ben Rosenblatt (#12) celebrates after 52-yard field goal.
Brown football kicker Ben Rosenblatt drilled a 52-yard field goal at the end of the first half, and that proved to be the deciding points in Browns 24-21 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Rosenblatt just joined the team 20 days ago after sending an email to head coach Phil Estes asking for a tryout.

The 52-yard field goal is the second longest in Brown history, just one yard short of Ruben Chapa's 53-yard field goal against Holy Cross in 1977.

The win brings the Brown Bears back to a .500 record in the Ivy League and a 4-5 record overall.

"I loved the way we started the game and loved the end of the second quarter. We struggled offensively in the second half, but did enough to win the game," said Estes.

Bears Hold on For Win

Brown held a 24-7 lead at the half following Rosenblatt's kick, but would not score a point in the second half.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Big Green would put up 14 points in the fourth to threaten Brown's lead.

With 10:40 to play in the game, Dartmouth running back Ryder Stone took a hand off nine yards into the end zone to pull the Big Green within seven points, 24-14. On the drive, Dartmouth went 83 yards in two minutes.

After each team exchanged turnovers and punts, the Big Green took over possession at their own eight yard line with four minutes to play in the game.

Dartmouth used a 10 play, 92 yard drive ending in a seven yard touchdown run by Dartmouth quarterback Jack Heneghan to cut Brown’s lead to three after the extra point.

Brown’s next offensive possession ended in a punt, but used up 1:40 of clock, giving Dartmouth the ball back with only seven seconds left in the game.

On that possession, Hangman would complete pass to Hunter Hagdorn for 15 yards, but Brown’s Will Twyman would force and recover a fumble to seal the Brown win.
