Spieth's 21 Points Not Enough as Brown Falls to Harvard 87-74

Steven Spieth scored at least 20 points (21) for the fifth time in Brown’s last six games, but it was not enough as the Bears would fall 87-74 to Harvard at the Pizzitola Center on Friday night.

"It's a disappointing loss. We played well for stretches but we missed too many chances at the free throw line. We were smart getting to the line, but the ball just didn't go in today. This is one we left out there,” said Brown head coach Mike Martin.

Brown falls to 2-5 in the Ivy League and 11-12 overall. Harvard improves to 13-7 overall and 5-2 in the Ivy League.

Brown Can’t Hold on

Joshua Howard converted a layup to give the Bears a ten point lead, 51-41, with 13:54 left in the game. This would be Brown’s second ten point lead of the half.

From that point, the Crimson would go on a 25-6 run capped off by two free throws from Siyani Chambers to give Harvard a 66-57 lead with 6:48 to play in the game.

JR Hobbie would hit a three and Spieth would make one of two free throws to cut the Bears deficit to three, 66-63, with 6:02 left to play, but that is as close as Brown would get.

The Crimson would go on a quick 9-2 run to take a 75-65 lead with 2:38 left and pull away from there.

Brown was hurt by converting only 18 of 29 free throws. They also allowed Harvard to score 18 points on their ten turnovers.
