With No Leland King, Brown Bears Fall to UNH 68-61

Brown's Rafael Maia knocked down two free throws with just under two minutes to play to put Brown up 61-60 however, they would not score another point the rest of the way. New Hampshire's Jay Bramanti knocked down a three pointer with 1:37 left to put New Hampshire up 63-61 and Tanner Lassiter knocked down another shot from beyond the arc on the next UNH possession to put the Wildcats up 66-61 and seal the win.

Cedric Kuakumensah followed up with a double-double, netting 13 points and ten rebounds. Kuakumensah also added three blocked shots to his stat line.
Jacoby Armstrong led the Wildcats with 17 points, Jay Bamanti pulled down 11 rebounds in the New Hampshire win .
The Brown Bears return to action on Monday, January 12 when they host Lyndon State in the final non-league game of the season. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

Five Takeaways From Browns 68-61 Loss to New Hampshire
Steven Spieth
Brown could have used a little bit more from Steven Spieth in the game, though he didn't have a bad game.
In 35 minutes of play time, Steven Spieth netted seven points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field. Spieth pulled down five rebounds, had one assist and two steals and a block.
With Leland King out of the game, it would have been nice to see Spieth step up a bit more in the scoring department.
Doing his part
Rafael Maia did his part to fill the role in King's absence. Maia netted a team high 15 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, pulled down five rebounds and even dished out three assists for the Bears in 29 minutes of play.
One of the biggest things that Maia did in this game was that he was able to stay out of foul trouble. Both he and Cedric Kuakumensah have had problems staying out of foul trouble at times this season and they both managed to stay out of it in this game. Each had only three fouls.
Brown needs both of them on the court as the season rolls along.
Hobbie gets the start
With Leland King out, J.R. Hobbie was given the start and he was a big disappointment.
Hobbie played 26 minutes in the game and netted one point in the game on a free throw. Hobbie missed every shot he took from the field, going 0-for-6 from the floor and 0-for-5 from three-point land.
Hobbie did pull down three rebounds and had a steal in the game however, that's not necessarily what he was in the line up for.
King injured
The Brown Bears leading scorer, Leland King, missed the Bears game against the UNH Wild cats on Thursday night due to an injury.
Brown did not give details on the injury or how long he would be out for.
Brown's next game is on Monday, January 12 against Lyndon State at the Pizzitola Center.
Monday's game is Brown's last before they begin Ivy League play.
The health of Leland King is pivotal for the Bears success going forward, if he is out for any significant amount of time, it will be a huge blow to Brown.
Lacking in execution
The Brown Bears had a 61-60 lead with just under two minutes to play in the game and didn't score another point.
New Hampshire took a 63-61 lead and on each of Brown's next two possessions, Rafael Maia turned the ball over, both turnovers resulted in UNH points.
After the turnovers, Brown trailed 67-61 and needed three-pointers but J.R. Hobbie was not able to connect on the two shots he took and Tyler Williams missed the one three-pointer that he took, though with only eight seconds left, it was irrelevant.
Poor execution left Brown without a point in the final two minutes and missing Leland King in that situation
