URI Wins Final Regular Season Game Over Fordham

The University of Rhode Island men’s basketball team beat Fordham 86-67 on Saturday at home.

The Rams are now 18-12, 7-11 Atlantic 10. The team led from beginning to end.

URI got a combined 39 points from the guard tandem of Sebastian Thomas and Jaden House.

Fordham is now 11-20, 3-15 A-10.

The Rams dominated in every aspect of the game. URI scored 42 points in the paint and 24 fast break points.

 

 

HIGHLIGHTS:

- Before the game, seniors Javonte Brown, Quentin Diboundje, David Green, Jaden House and Sebastian Thomas were all honored as part of Senior Day.

- Also recognized was student photographer/videographer Josh Paiva, who has worked with the team for the last three years.

- Rhode Island had a 24-16 edge in fastbreak points.

- Point guard Sebastian Thomas had 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.

- Guard Jaden House scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting from the floor.

- Forward David Green finished with eight points and seven rebounds. With his seventh point of the day, he reached 1,000 career points.

- Guards Jamarques Lawrence and Cam Estevez each had 12 points.

- All of the points for Estevez came on 3-pointers. Over his last three games, Estevez is 9-for-18 (.500) from the perimeter.

- Forward David Fuchs just missed a double-double, scoring nine points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

 

NEXT:

Rhode Island and Fordham will run it back in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship next week. URI's win, coupled with a Massachusetts loss Saturday, clinched the No. 10 seed for Rhody. The teams will play Wednesday, March 12 in Washington, D.C.
